Your Will, Not Mine
“My Father!
If it is possible,
let this cup of suffering be taken away from me.
Yet I want your will to be done, not mine."
Matthew 26:39 NLT
Purpose is so much fun to find and fulfill IF it doesn’t interfere with our plans; our purpose is precisely what we want to be doing if it doesn’t take up too much of our time and energy. Oh, and it has to make a significant impact with little effort. That’s the way we casually think about purpose.
Spoiler Alert: It doesn’t work that way. Jesus didn’t die on the cross just to save you from an eternity in Hell, He saved you for something; He saved you for a purpose. The purpose He put inside of you to be lived out by you.
The only obstacle that lies between you and your purpose is your decision to say to Jesus; not my will but your will be done.
I lived the first half of my life asking God to choose someone else; I ran from Him, hid from Him and said “no” to Him, but because of His indescribable love for me He didn’t give up on me.
He will not give up on you either; you are that important to Him.
“We were created with a purpose and for a purpose, but it is up to us to accept it and step into it. We can pray, we can beg, we can ask God to send someone else, but at the end of your prayer the correct response should always be:_________________________________________________________________.”
You were set apart, saved and purposed to change the world around you for Jesus. Today is the day you start to live your life on purpose.
